Justus' Kinderuni Gießen
Lung research is not only fascinating for adults. We also want to give children the opportunity to marvel at the wonders of the human body and help them to understand them. That is why the UGMLC regularly contributes to the Justus' Children's University in Giessen.

Lab Visits
The UGMLC regularly open its Laboratories to school classes and incoming students. We are always open to interested groups and also attempt to create suitable opportunities for individual inquiries.
Girls Day
The UGMLC offers young girls the opportunity to get a taste of working life as a top researcher. We are therefore taking part in Girls Day and look forward to receiving inquiries.
Senior University Lectures
A thirst for knowledge needs to be quenched even at an advanced age. This is why the UGMLC regularly takes part in the "Senioren Uni" lecture series, which Justus Liebig University offers in both the summer and winter semesters. Here, professors give 45-minute lectures on current medical topics of social relevance.
All lectures are recorded and can be accessed here permanently:

Prof. Dr. Natascha Sommer heads the Post-Covid Outpatient Clinic in Giessen and also conducts research on this topic
The UGMLC/DZL (German Center for Lung Research) follows the request to focus more strongly on patient interests and cooperates closely with the Lung Information Service (LIS) based at the Helmholtz Center in Munich. The UGMLC supports the range of easy-to-understand information from research and clinical practice about pulmonary diseases. The scientists and doctors take on an advisory role for editorial contributions of the LIS and individual patient inquiries sent to the LIS. The UGMLC/DZL and its sites together with the LIS also organize events such as patient fora on special subjects.
Together with the DZL, the LIS have also been offering patients, their families, and interested members of the general public an overview of clinical studies currently carried out by UGMLC/DZL researchers. The internet-based list on the LIS website sets out the objectives, admission criteria, duration, and investigation/treatment methods of each study in a way that is easily understandable. Using this service, interested patients may contact the study sites directly, which facilitates access to clinical studies. This list of studies is updated and extended on a regular basis.
